Overall Rating: 3

Brief Summary of the Storyline: Cash works Monday through Friday and comes home only on weekends. After catching his wife with another man he now finds himself lonely on the weekends. He puts an ad online, Facebook, for a female roommate. ONLY female. Jade, a single mom, living on her friend’s couch finds herself desperate to get back on her feet. After weeding out the other applications Cash settles on Jade and her daughter.

Overall Opinion: First I want to say I gave this book 3  stars because I just felt so indifferent about it. I did like the book. It was a light romance novel. Light meaning there were no steamy love scenes that lasted page upon page that ultimately felt like filler for the author to make his/her word count. But with that said the romance was so slow to build it was almost like waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The plot twist for me was easy to spot. And let me say this twist was no light topic at all. The story of a guy taking out an ad to find a female roommate could have been so widely written but then the author threw in such a heavy issue that I felt like cringing through most of the book. Especially since I saw that heavy issue way before I’m sure the author intended someone to catch her twist.

I liked the sweetness of the Hero even though he had some clingy dependent tendencies. He attached himself way too quick to the heroine’s daughter. Personally, If I was a single mom moving in with a man I didn’t know, that lived darn near in the middle of nowhere, I’d at least check the sex offender registry to make sure I wasn’t putting myself or my daughter in complete harm’s way. Jade, the heroine, had no idea what she was getting into.

POV: Chapters went back and forth between Jade and Cash’s POV.

Overall Pace of Story: It was a bit slow. But given the circumstances of how they met, the readers would need a slower paced story. But it could be a bit of a bore to read.

Instalove: The characters love was built over time.

H rating: 4 – The character was the type every woman would supposedly want. Strong, tough, protective, loving, and rich. But in the real world, he would be pegged as a sociopath and the saying would be true that something that seems too good to be true would normally end up as someone finding your body in the woods.

h rating: 2 – Due to her moving in with some guy she didn’t know from the internet with her 2-year-old daughter. Even though it did turn out ok for her It’s not something I’d daydream about for myself.

Worthy to Remember: That Cash’s ‘people’ had his back and was right there to assist.

Major Issues:

  1. How could a single mom looking out for the best interest of her child move in with a guy she met on the internet.
  2. You cannot do a proper background check on someone using just Google.
  3. How he was able to quit his job with no repercussions of any kind. Especially given the type of job he had.
  4. The story was more of a tell instead of show.

Just because it just bothered me: I was able to catch the skeevy twist within the first few pages of the book. Cash and Jade had unprotected sex. Normally, it wouldn’t be a bother but again she met this guy on the internet and didn’t really know him. And Jade’s friend should have done a better job trying to look out for her friend. You can’t be indignant about your friend moving in with a guy from the internet and not go check out his house with her.

Sadness level: The situation that resulted in Aria, Jade’s daughter.

Descriptive Sex: Not one single bit. I may be bitter about that. I haven’t decided yet.

Closure: It wasn’t a cliffhanger but I feel the heroine needed more/proper closure regarding her life.
