Most Eligible Billionaire – Annika Martin

August 2, 2018

Overall Rating: 3 stars

Brief Summary of the Storyline: Vicky runs an Etsy shop selling fancy dog collars. She befriends an elderly lady when she is mistaken for a dog whisper. When the lady dies and leaves her billions to the dog, Vicky is stunned to find she bequeaths the honor of being the dogs representative and now 51% in charge of Locke Enterprises. One of the worlds most successful empires. This frustrates Henry Locke the son of the late owner as the company should have been his and he will stop at nothing to get control of his company back from the dog and its quirky new owner.

Overall Opinion: I can’t say I loved this book but I most certainly didn’t hate it. The beginning towards the middle was a good read. As soon as the sex started the dialog became cheesy. I normally enjoy the enemies becomes lovers theme and this one fit right in. The storyline made sense, it was believable and I even liked the characters. But the number one thing that went wrong was the characters changed. Once the relationship developed he started calling her nicknames that I just couldn’t believe his character would do. I didn’t enjoy reading the words. The story then became about the sex. How many ways/places/times in the course of the chapter can we get at it? I felt like skipping pages. Then to progress the story we had a timeline jump. It then felt like I was being ‘told’ the story and not ‘shown’ the story.

POV: Both. It goes back and forth between Vicky and Henry.

Overall Pace of Story: The story started at a good pace but towards the end, it felt rushed with big time gaps and a rushed ending.

Instalove: Given the pace of the story it felt a bit insta.

H rating: 3. He started solid but towards the middle, it felt his characteristics changed and it was like he was a different person.

h rating: 2. At times it felt like she had a backbone and others she was too timid.

Worthy to Remember: Nope. Not any. I tried to think of something that stood out but it didn’t happen.

Major Issues: 1. The dialog became cheesy after they had sex. It became a different book.

Just because it just bothered me: The book kinda glossed over the death of the old lady. Well not glossed over it but it seems only Vicky was sad but not in an I should attend the funeral way because she didn’t but the family only seemed to care what happens to the money. I guess that may be normal in super-rich families but that kinda sucked.

Sadness level: 1. The old lady did die. That was sad. The family was more vulture-like and didn’t seem to care.

Descriptive sex: Yes. A bit.

Closure: I hadn’t read a book since March so I guess I’m grateful it didn’t suck.
